Lesson plan

Subject           : Technology and Livelihood Education                    Date                : July 9, 2013
Area    : Computer Hardware Servicing                                             No. of Students: 50

I.                   Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1.      Identify the internal parts of system unit and their functions;
2.      Construct their own explanation and understanding about the internal parts of system unit;
3.      Appreciate the functions of each internal pats of system unit.

II.                Concept

-          The Internal Parts of System Unit

Sub-concept
-          Hard Drive

Materials
-          Power point presentation
-          Chalk
-          Board
-

III.             Strategies

A.     Preparation

1.      Routine Activities
-          Greetings
-          Prayer
-          Checking of Attendance

2.      Motivation

-          The teacher will divide the class into 5 groups. Each group will be given 4 pictures that are related or interpret internal parts of system unit. Then, the members of the group will guess if what parts of the system unit does the picture interpret or what part of system unit does the pictures related. After guessing the correct answer, one representative of each group will explain in front their insights about that specific parts of system unit.

B.     Presentation

1.      From the activity, let the students enumerate the parts of system unit.
-          Motherboard
-          Processor
-          Hard drive
-          Heat sink
-          Power supply
-          Memory
-          Floppy drive
-          Disk drive

2.      Nest, the teacher will enumerate completely the internal parts of system unit
-          Hard Drive or Hard Disk Drive
-          Heat Sink
-          Power Supply
-          Graphic Cards
-          Internal Memory
-          Processor
-          Floppy Drive
-          Optical Drive
-          Motherboard

3.      Third, the teacher will explain clearly the functions of each internal parts of system unit.

-          Hard drive.
- Magnetic storage device.
-it is the permanent storage of data.

-          Heat Sink
- Cooling device
- One of the important device
  in a computer.
-to stop the computer in
getting overheated.
-          Power supply
- Main source of power
-          Graphic card
-enables the computer to improve the graphics
-responsible for displaying the computer's graphics on a monitor
-          Internal Memory
- RAM (Random Access Memory)
- ROM (Read-Only-Memory)
-          Processor
-It is the computer's brain
-It allows the processing of numeric data, meaning information entered in binary form, and the execution of instructions stored in memory.
-          Floppy drive
-use 3.5 inch floppy disk
-floppy disk can store 720 KB or 1.44MB
-          Optical disk drive
-use laser to read the data on the optical media
-          Motherboard
- Also called as "system board", "logic board", "mainboard" or "MOBO".
- It holds many of the crucial electronic components of the system.

C.     Evaluation

1.      Conduct an oral recitation on what they have learned in the class. Asked them to give one internal part of system unit and let them explain it based on their own understanding.
2.      Conduct a 10 items quiz.

IV.              Assignment

1.      Review the lessons about internal parts of system unit
2.      Prepare for hands-on activity.
